Jason is a litigation law clerk with Bates Barristers. He has assisted lawyers in various litigation cases before all levels of the courts in Ontario, at the Federal Court of Canada, and at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Jason’s quick understanding of complicated issues and his sound judgment allow him to fulfill various assignments in complex commercial litigation. He is able to take an active role in evidence-gathering and analysis. Jason is particularly adept at reviewing and selecting key documents from a client’s file. This helps him prepare affidavits of documents and file summaries. Jason also summarizes transcripts of examination for discovery, prepares read-ins, and organizes and manages undertakings and refusals. His computer skills serve him well in the extensive use of cutting-edge litigation technology at Bates Barristers. Jason also prepares and serves various court documents, including motion and application records.
Jason participates in the activities of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario including the Annual General Meeting. Prior to joining Bates Barristers, he worked as a law clerk and gained valuable legal experience at three law firms in Toronto. He was a reporter and editor for legal programs at a radio station in China.
